The slang term "Netflix N Chill" is quickly taking over the Internet with hilarious still images, memes, Vines, and other funny and comical reactions on YouTube.
To me Netflix and chill is when you ask someone over to watch Netflix, you chill out together by sitting down next to each other, eat some food and have something to drink while watching Netflix and get to know each other on a more personal level. By coming over to the persons house you are sort of putting your trust in them and in a way you are saying to them that you would be open to intimate contact that could go as far as you both felt comfortable with.
In the innocent days “Netflix and chill” really did mean “chilling out and watching Netflix”. It was more like a solo activity. There you were, sitting on your sofa, the latest season of whatever-it-is playing in front of you, the “chill” part of the equation very much not a euphemism for anything at all. Now it all seemed like a clever inside joke understood and appreciated by a very considerable amount of people and I wasn’t one of them.
In April 2015, the term “Netflix and chill” is added to Urban Dictionary ,written by user LaxBuhl7, defines “Netflix and chill” as “code for two people going to each others houses and fucking or doing other sexual related acts.”
This not-so-fancy "Netflix N Chill" practices are driving us away from traditional dating. We're slowly killing actual dates, we get invited over to watch movies. “Netflix and Chill” could totally be a good thing for most people, but most of the time it’s not.
What are your thoughts about this?
